Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you accept insurance?

No. I am not in network for any insurance panels. Payment is due at the time service is booked, but I can provide a superbill monthly for you to submit to your insurance if you would like to seek reimbursement of eligible expenses.

How long are your appointments?

An initial appointment for a new minor patient is usually conducted over at least 2 hours (one hour with parent(s) and caregivers, and one hour with child). This may be scheduled over one or two days.

Follow up appointments are 50 minutes.

What are your fees?

-Child initial evaluation (2 hours): $900

-Follow up visits (50 minutes): $500
-Work conducted outside of scheduled appointments (e.g. - insurance prior authorizations, emails, telephone calls, letter requests, school meeting participation): $600 per hour, billed in 10 minute increments

How long does treatment last?

A joke first...

Q: How long does it take a psychiatrist to change a light bulb?
A: It depends on whether the light bulb want to change.

But seriously, the duration of treatment naturally depends on the motivation of the person receiving therapy, their openness to participation, and the severity of the condition. Like most things, the longer a problem has been in existence, the tougher it is to change, and therefore the longer it takes to see improvement. Despite this, progress is certain if one works consistently for it.

When it comes to kids in therapy, it's very important for you as the parent to know how a provider builds rapport with your child and handles a child's natural resistance. It's also VERY important for you as the parent to be instrumentally involved in the treatment.

Do parents attend appointments with the child?

There is strong research supporting the involvement of parents in treatment of their kids, especially for treatment of anxiety disorders. Parents of children I care for must be committed and involved in the treatment of their child.

Depending on the age of the child, and the condition being treated, parents may be asked to be present during sessions, or at other scheduled times. For adolescent children, sessions are usually held privately with the child, and additional sessions are scheduled with parents to ensure treatment progress.
